Is your child interested in computer programming? If so, your Library has a great opportunity for them! We’re partnering with iCode Tri-Cities to offer a coding class for ages 8-12. The group meets Friday, May 2 at 4 p.m. in the Library’s Jones Meeting Center.

In the class, iCode Tri-Cities instructors lead participants through the world of Snap Circuits, a unique STEM product that creatively teaches coding without the need for computers or traditional programming languages. Kids get to experiment with conductors and nonconductors using Snap Circuits for a dynamic learning experience.

Registration is required; sign up here.

The Library is offering this class because, as JCPL Assistant Director of Children’s Services Suzy Bomgardner put it, “Computer programming brings out the creative genius in kids, and it supports logical thinking and problem solving skills.”

Bomgardner continued, “I’m so excited to see kids engaged and motivated by what they learn in coding classes. I hope the iCode crew will inspire a whole new generation of programmers.”

iCode Tri-Cities provides tech, coding, and STEM education through partnerships with schools and organizations in the Tri-Cities. Find out about iCode’s work here.
