Your Library is hosting free, family-friendly outdoor concerts featuring regional musicians on Sundays in September from 3-4 p.m.

These fall “front porch” concerts are held on the Library’s front steps, which provides the audience with a beautiful view of King Commons Park and Buffalo Mountain in the distance. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the live music.

If the weather forecast is bad, the concerts will move inside the Library or be rescheduled. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to receive concert updates.

This year’s full line-up includes:
September 8: Shawn Lane
September 15: daniel couper
September 29: Corey Snowden

The first concert features Shawn Lane on Sunday, September 8. Lane is a dynamic vocalist and instrumentalist who plays fiddle, mandolin and guitar. He is also a respected songwriter with several chart-topping bluegrass hits.

As a founding member of the bluegrass band Blue Highway, he was nominated for three Grammy Awards and won the International Bluegrass Music Association Award 28 times. Lane toured or recorded with musical greats like Willie Nelson, Ricky Skaggs, Kenny Chesney, and Alison Krauss.

Adult Services Librarian Jonathan Burchett sees this month-long series as a way that the Library lives out its mission. He says, “Offering these free concerts is one way that we provide quality entertainment opportunities in a dynamic center for our community.”

Burchett continues, “We’re especially excited for this year’s line-up because, while the artists span different genres, they’re all local or have regional ties. We love giving the talented musicians in our area a place to showcase their work.”
