Have you and your friends ever thrown around the idea of starting your own book club? Your Library is here to help make that idea a reality this summer!
Our Traveling Tales kits provide everything you need to start your own book discussion group. Each kit includes up to 12 copies of a book, a discussion guide, information about the author and title, and a group sign-out sheet for keeping track of the books.
We have over 50 titles in a variety of genres to choose from, so there really is something for every literary taste. View a complete list of available titles and place a hold here.
Why Offer Book Club Kits?
We want it to be as easy and convenient as possible for people to start a book club!
Assistant Director of User Services Wendy Day says, “The Library’s goal is to make the experience of organizing and running a book club more accessible, affordable, and straightforward.”
“By providing these kits,” Wendy explains, “we eliminate common barriers, such as the cost of purchasing multiple copies of a book and the time required to come up with discussion questions.”
Whether you’re an experienced book club host or a first-timer, Traveling Tales simplifies the process. This means that you get to focus on the enjoyment of reading and discussing great books with your group.
How Do I Borrow a Kit?
Our extensive Traveling Tales collection is located behind the Circulation Desk on the first floor. To check out a kit, browse the list and place a hold through the catalog or come directly to the Circulation Desk.
The full kit (including all the copies of the book) checks out to one person for eight weeks.
All the book club materials must be returned together at the Circulation Desk. Please don’t put them in our outdoor or indoor book returns!
What Kinds of Titles are Available?
Your Library’s collection management team curates a diverse, high-interest, and quality selection of Traveling Tales kits. We have over 50 titles to choose from, and regularly add new titles to keep the collection fresh and exciting.
Wendy says, “We take great care to ensure that our collection spans a wide array of genres to cater to the varied tastes and preferences of our users. From the intrigue of mystery to the imaginative realms of science fiction, from the depth of literary fiction to the topical interest of nonfiction, there is something for everyone.”
“We intentionally select both well-known and beloved books, as well as hidden gems by lesser-known authors,” Wendy says. “This approach allows people to explore new genres, discover new authors, and enjoy a diverse reading experience.”
Whether you’re looking for a familiar favorite or an entirely new literary adventure, our Traveling Tales collection has a book that will captivate your book club.

These kits function the same as the Traveling Tales collection for adults, but the book selection and discussion questions are thoughtfully chosen and age appropriate. Over 20 new and classic children’s titles are available; find a full list and place a hold here.
